This is probably gonna be a super long post and might be my last one, cause I'm honestly getting kind of sick and tired of some people on this wiki. I just wanted to go somewhere where people might share experiences with me and was met with people thinking they have 50230923496 different mental illnesses. I tried bearing with it, but it's getting legit so annoying to come on here to just chill and seeing 500 posts about people talking about their mental illnesses.
I've said it once, and I will always say this. If you do have DIAGNOSED mental illness, it is fine, and you are an amazing and strong person. But oh my god, the amount of people on here who self diagnose is absolutely insane. Its fine if you can't go to a therapist or doctor, but Jesus, DONT SAY YOU HAVE IT IF YOU ARE NOT DIAGNOSED, because obviously some of you have legit no idea how mental illnesses even function, like you have basic understandings from tik tok.
I'll probably get spammed with negative comments or have the thread locked before, but I honestly don't care. I see people who talk about having DID and borderline glorifying it, while they don't even realize that DID doesn't just get caused by listening to a SONG for gods sake, it happens during specific scenarios under large amounts of stress or anxiety. Some of ya'll act like listening to a song is a magical gateway to depersonalizing, its not. Most of the time when depersonalizing, you don't even know its happening, and you only realize when it starts to go back to normal, and these episodes can even last for weeks. They aren't always just 5 minute events that happen when you listen to a song, and I think its very suspicious that DID affects 0.1-1 percent of the population, but seems to be one of the most common mental illnesses on here.
Depersonalizing can also happen to people without DID, so it happening once does not mean you have it. This all goes for other metal illnesses, being stressed does not mean you have anxiety, liking neat things does not mean OCD, tics does not mean Tourette's, not paying attention does not mean ADD, and forgetting something does not mean having alters or amnesia.
Again, it is FINE if you are diagnosed, stay strong and amazing if you are, you can get through it, but please stop saying you have it if you are not diagnosed, because sometimes it can be hard to spot normal behavior from mental illness. If you cannot be diagnosed and have suspicions that you have a mental illness, then please try everything you can to be diagnosed, as suffering without a known cause can be horrible, and being diagnosed is one step closer to being able to find help. Not knowing the facts behind mental illness can lead you to gaslight yourself and get you trapped in an endless loop.
I sound like a broken record, I know, and i realize that I am definitely not widely liked on the wiki, I do have some strong opinions, but I care deeply for you all. This probably will be ignored and people will continue, and that's fine. I'm not calling anyone out, just saying that if this post catches your attention, and you start to have suspicions about if you truly have a mental disorder, then please do research and figure it out for yourself from a trusted professional.
I care deeply for you all, I really do, goodbye for a while.
