-im in no way trying to invalidate anyone or be lesbophobic so please talk to me if there's anything i should change !!! <333
-first, the info under the flag said any gender attracted to females and sometimes other genders. i don't fully get how individuals that aren't female-aligned can be a lesbian. according to the definition on your page, a lesbian could be a binary male attracted to women (which is straight). more specifically, a lesbian could also be a cisallomono male attracted to women, who is now in the LGBTQ community as a lesbian according to the page.
TW: correctional r*pe (a)
-many lesbians have gone through correctional r*pe and/or other forms of sexual abuse involving men to "change" their sexuality. and now men are included in their attraction. a man can be a lesbian. this feels very wrong and offensive and frankly, terrible, because now their label has been opened up to non-women. honestly this is very upsetting and i know all lesbians may not feel this way but i think we are forgetting what lesbians have gone through and the history of the term.
-i understand that lesbians come in all shapes and sizes but this feels excessive. i don't know how straight men are lesbians. even if their attraction "feels queer". i'm not trying to target anyone or be hateful i just don't understand this much at all and i'd really like someone to enlighten me on the subject. the label lesbian is slowly becoming looser and people are getting offended if the term doesn't include them. even if someone feels more comfortable calling themselves a lesbian, i don't think its okay to let them do so if they are not a lesbian at all, even if that is offensive to that individual. i think we are forgetting that lesbians that are woman-aligned and attracted to women-aligned individuals are part of this change too. i notice if they voice their thoughts (that oppose the broadening of the label) their voices are most often silenced and labelled as lesbophobia. yes, im aware lesbians can be lesbophobic, but i'm talking about the ones that aren't. i dont think this is fair. if anything, we should be asking for as much input as possible from lesbians. even if you know everything about lesbianism, you have to be one to fully understand it.
-apologies if my wording makes no sense. please, comment if there's anything i should fix or clarify. if you are a lesbian who is offended by this im SO sorry and i would love if you told me what upset you so i could rethink it and change it, and perhaps discuss why you oppose it. thanks for reading, feel free to message me if you want to discuss privately <333
