I awoke suddenly at night. I heard static coming from the television suddenly. I got out of bed and exited the room. I hobbled over to the TV and studied the patterns. I blinked, and suddenly the TV switched from static to an old episode of Sesame Street. I noticed that it was slightly different from how I remembered it. The colors were off, and it was slightly slow. I also noted a skit that wasn’t on the original version. Unfortunately, I don’t remember any of the details. I got up. The TV was suddenly gone. I walked back down the hallway. It seemed not to end. At last, I had gotten to what appeared to be my bedroom door. I tried to open it. It wouldn’t budge. I tried the bathroom door across the hallway. It led to my bedroom. I went back to sleep.
As morning drifted across the sky, I slowly opened my eyes. I got out of bed and did my morning ritual. I had work today. I tried to get out of the room through the bedroom door, but, again, it was stuck. I quickly made a mental note to call somebody to get it fixed, and exited the same way I had done the night of the strange experience. It worked the exact same way. I maneuvered my way out of the house and into the car with everything I had needed. As I drive to work, I reminisce of those zany scary stories that my older brother used to tell me. They were the family favorite at campfires or at late dusk in falls past. The one about the Scenedrifter came to mind in particular.
