Changes are based primarily on user suggestions/polling, as well as general popular demand and discussion among staff members and the community.
Feedback is welcome - these are still subject to potential revision and additions. Some rules, such as rules around DNIs will be in the main community guidelines (which are yet to be updated) rather than the discussion guidelines.
Read the new discussion guidelines here: https://lgbta.wikia.org/d/g
Reading the guidelines in full is recommended but here are some of the most significant changes to note:
Revised guidelines around typing quirks.
Revised guidelines around reposting.
Added guidelines around excessive venting.
Added guidelines around having a "see results" or similar option on polls.
Added a new rule against attraction polls (aside from polls strictly around friendship).
Added explicit rules against guilt-tripping and sympathy "baiting".
Added explicit rules against highly disturbing venting posts.
Added an explicit guideline around "mini-modding" behaviour.
I would also like to note that I and the rest of the staff team are intent on ensuring that guidelines are properly enforced, particularly in reference to guidelines around seeking and providing medical advice as well as certain types of venting posts and other rules that are in place directly for the purpose of protecting users' wellbeing.
I've also generally clarified some guidelines and heavily re-formatted them to be more coherent.
Thanks to all of the community members who have given feedback and had discussions with us about these changes!/pos
