I'm sort of reformatting the guidelines a bit (see the editing guidelines for an idea of the formatting I'm going for - it's hopefully a lot easier to process now) before making rule adjustments as there was a fair amount of repetition and I feel it makes them difficult to read (I'm currently editing some of them so excuse any slight messiness but I haven't changed or redacted any info yet so don't worry, I'll announce it if we do that).
I'm planning to get some pretty significant new guidelines out within the next day or two around coining and recoining (aka, really cracking down on how pages are resourced and making the guidelines stricter around recoining).
This has been a long time coming, and I want to make sure I get it right and consider every nuance.
There are a lot of things to consider a lot of lines to draw and details to clarify.
I'm thinking about things like: what resources would be acceptable for pages for fairly common terms with unclear origins/history, pages coined via article creation before it was prohibited), clearing up guidelines around what counts as an acceptable resource, requiring coiner permission and evidence of such for certain types of changes, exactly what to do around adding alternate definitions to terms, making alternate names for terms (and what to do about pages that already contain such things vs new pages), etc, etc, just to give you all an idea of how busy my brain is right now.
I'm also thinking misuse of folks' prefixes and suffixes needs to be outlawed properly. Also wanna make a process for folks to be added to/taken off an official list of users who don't want their terms here (based on the existing one) and enforcing the rule that nobody should be making pages for said user's terms./lh
You all deserve for this to be gotten right. I also don't want to overwhelm anyone with tons of small changes that will be hard to keep up with, so I want to do as much of it in bulk as possible./g
We're also obviously dealing with staff apps, communication issues, and just, a lot of other things. ^^"
Thanks for your patience, everyone. If you have any thoughts, of course, let me know!/g
